Dear Parishioners,

Effective June 1, 2020, the San Mateo County health officials have granted communities of faith the ability to reopen its doors for services while keeping their congregations and staff safe. We have been working diligently to ensure that the safety measures from the county, state and the Archbishop are carefully implemented.

It is with great joy that I announce our reopening for public Masses this weekend June 13 at 5:00p.m. and June 14 at 8:00am. 10:00am, 12:00noon and 5:00pm Latin Mass. Weekday Masses will resume on June 15, 2020, Monday thru Friday at 8:00am and 12:00 noon Latin Mass and Saturday at 8:00am The monthly healing Mass remains temporarily suspended.

If you are 50 years or older and have a pre-existing health condition that makes you more vulnerable to infection, the Archbishop has dispensed you from attending Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation and should continue to stay home. The same applies to anyone who exhibits symptoms of illness, especially fever, cough, shortness of breath or who fear becoming infected may remain at home in good conscience. You can attend Mass that is live streamed on the internet or on TV.

As we reopen our church we need your help to ensure that we carefully follow the safety measures to ensure everyone in attendance remains healthy. Here are things to remember before coming to Mass:

  • Come early. The state and county requires us to limit the amount of people attending Mass, 25% of the maximum occupancy or 100 whatever is less.

  • Enter the church through the main entrance. Persons with disabilities should use the automatic doors on the far left of the church.

  • Face masks should be worn at all times in and around the church except for when receiving Communion.

  • Your temperature will be taken by an usher as you enter the vestibule of the church.

  • Please bring your personal hand sanitizer to use. Should you forget it, hand sanitizer is provided at all entrances and exits for everyone to utilize before entering and leaving the church.

  • Complete the Informed Consent form. This form is required each time you attend Mass and will be collected before Mass begins or you may drop it the collection box. A copy of the form can be found on our parish website. Tip: complete the form ahead of time.

  • Seating in the church will be by individual or family household. Please wait to be seated and follow the directions of the ushers.

  • Maintain a minimum of 6 feet distance. There are signs on the floor and marks in pews to assist you.

  • Sunday envelopes/donations can be placed in the collection boxes by the statue of Mary inside the Church or by the parish hall dividing doors. For your convenience, you may sign up to make your contributions online. http://mdssf.org/online_giving.htm

  • Communion will be distributed at the end of Mass. Please follow the directions of the ushers. Remember to take off your mask and gloves before receiving Communion.

The lay ministers, parish staff and I look forward to celebrating Mass with you again while ensuring the health and safety of all present.

The parish center is now open to serve you. Please call the parish office to schedule baptisms, funerals and weddings or to make an appointment for anointing of the sick and confession. For now, confession will be by appointment only.

Please note the age requirement of 50 has been determined by the San Mateo County Public Health Officer
