Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time
August 28, 2005 - Bulletin

Be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.

THEME OF OUR LITURGY - “The Lord comforts and challenges us”

Jeremiah 20:7-9 The name of the Lord has become like fire burning in Jeremiah‘s heart.

Romans 12:1-2 Be transformed: renew your mind; discern what is good.

Matthew 16:21-27 Those who lose their lives for Jesus’ sake will find them.

We ask God’s blessing on the parents, teachers, and the children as we begin another School Year.

We pray for YVETTE ALZUGARAY & DANIEL MINDEGUIA who are preparing for the Sacrament of Matrimony.

We pray for all the sick in our parish, especially: Maureen Dan, Tom Cathey, Richard Jordan, Malen Ferrer, John Duran, Florence Favrow, Charlie Villanueva, John Joseph Cain, John Hartlein, Crispin Munoz and Margaret Caylao.

First Friday Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction is on Friday, September 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. in the Church. All parishioners are encouraged to attend.

Many thanks to those parishioners who contributed to the weekly Church Collection last Sunday. Amount received: $3,984.00 and for the Second Collection for the support of the Parish Improvement Fund. Amount received $1,060.00.

Second Collection Sunday is for the support of the Parish School. Please be generous!

Dear Friends,

School opened this past Wednesday. Summer went by much too quickly, but I’m, glad to have the kids back in school. The school with its life and energy, is truly the backbone of the parish. Good luck, kids, during this coming year. May all your grades be A’s and may you become closer to Jesus and Mary.

During the School Year, the Church will be open until 5:00 p.m. If you or your children would like to stop by for a visit, know that Our Lord is waiting for you in the Blessed Sacrament.

Have a great week!

Fr. Brian

For a good number of years now, my bathroom would flood three or four times a year and the parish would have to spend hundreds of dollars every time we called the plumber to get the problem fixed. This past week, my bathroom flooded again and it affected all the bathrooms in the Rectory. We called a plumber, he looked at our pipes, and told us it would cost almost Seven thousand dollars to permanently fix the problem. We honestly don’t have that kind of money.

I am told that if I appealed to you directly, you would give. So here I am appealing to you to please increase your giving so that we can fix the bathrooms in the Rectory. If everyone gave just a little bit more money in the collection, we could raise the Seven thousand dollars and get the bathrooms fixed. That would sure make for three happy priests and, I believe, if there are happy priests, there is a happy parish. Much thanks for all your help.

Fr. Brian

All who undertake to teach must be endowed with deep love. The greatest patience, and , most of all, profound humility. The Lord will find them worthy to become fellow workers with him in the cause of truth.
