We pray for all the sick in our parish, especially: Maureen Dan, Tom Cathey, Richard Jordan, John Duran, Florence Favrow, Margaret Caylao, John Hartlein, Lory Manzano, Angela Uccelli, Victor Fernandez, Emil Valdes, and George Ferris.

PRAYER FOR LENT

Kyrie Eleison, Lord, have mercy on us.
Now is our acceptable time,
Now is our day of salvation.
Kyrie Eleison, have mercy on us.

Keep us faithful to prayer, fasting, and charity.
Increase our faith, hope and love.
Kyrie Eleison, have mercy on us.

Let us walk in the warmth of heaven’s mercy
as we journey to the glorious Easter dawn.
Kyrie Eleison, have mercy on us.

The following information may be helpful in preparation for Lent.

ABSTINENCE

Everyone fourteen years of age and older is bound to abstain from meat on ASH WEDNESDAY, GOOD FRIDAY and the Friday’s of Lent.

FAST

Everyone eighteen years of age and older, but under the age of sixty are also bound to fast on ASH WEDNESDAY and GOOD FRIDAY.

On these two days, the law of fast allows only one full meal a day, but does not prohibit taking some food during the day, so long as this does not constitute another full meal. Drinking liquids during the day is permitted.

When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. In doubt concerning fast or abstinence, please call the Rectory Office. In the spirit of penance, the faithful should not lightly excuse themselves from this obligation.

Dear Friends,

I want to publicly thank Bob and Barbara Reid for hosting the Crab Cioppino Dinner last Friday Night. It was a huge success. Last year, we only made $500 but this year we made $2400. Bob and Barbara informed me, a few days later, that they are retiring after 25 years. Thank you, Bob & Barbara, for your many years of service to MD. I wish I have more parishioners like you. Also, a big “thank you” goes out to your children, grandchildren, and family from Kansas for all their help as well. It was truly a Reid Event. I hope somebody picks up the torch that you have so faithfully carried these many years. Any takers?

Happy Lent!

Father Brian
