Happy
St. Patricks Day
The
following information may be helpful in
preparation for Lent.
ABSTINENCE
Everyone fourteen
years of age and older is bound to abstain
from meat on ASH WEDNESDAY, GOOD FRIDAY
and the Fridays of
Lent.
FAST
Everyone eighteen
years of age and older, but under the age
of sixty are also bound to fast on ASH
WEDNESDAY and GOOD FRIDAY.
On these two
days, the law of fast allows only one full
meal a day, but does not prohibit taking
some food during the day, so long as this
does not constitute another full meal.
Drinking liquids during the day is
permitted.
When health or
ability to work would be seriously
affected, the law does not oblige. In
doubt concerning fast or abstinence,
please call the Rectory Office. In the
spirit of penance, the faithful should not
lightly excuse themselves from this
obligation.
SPECIAL
ANNOUNCEMENT
Archbishop George
H. Niederauer has granted a dispensation
from the Lenten
obligation to abstain from eating meat on
Friday, March 17,
2006
because of the feast of Saint Patrick,
co-patron of the
Archdiocese. The Archbishop encourages
those who wish to take advantage of the
dispensation to observe abstinence, if at
all possible, on some other day during
that week.

Dear
Friends,
Just
a reminder that we have
2 daily Masses during
Lent from Monday thru
Thursday: 8 am and 7:30
pm. On the Fridays of
Lent, we have Mass at 8
am and Stations of the
Cross,
followed
by Benediction at 7:30
p.m. This is a good way
for all of us to better
prepare ourselves for
Easter.
Today
is Pledge Sunday. If you
were unable to make a
pledge to the
Archbishops Annual
Appeal (AAA) during
Mass, please do so this
week. Both the
Archdiocese and the
parish need your
financial support. If
you have already given,
thank you very much. If
you havent given,
please give something,
anything. The success of
the AAA cannot be
achieved without
everyones support.
- Happy
St. Patricks
Day!
