Thank you!

What a great week we had here this past week. Last Sunday, we had our Halloween Mass and the Church was packed with costumed kids. After Mass, we had a reception in the Hall and rather than grabbing a donut and running back to the car, people actually stayed and enjoyed one another’s company. I was thinking that this is what community is all about. On Tuesday, our school children came to school in costume and they had special Halloween activities in the afternoon. It was great to see the smiles on both the children’s and adult’s faces. With all the negativity going on around here lately, this was a welcome relief. Thank you, kids, for showing us adults what is most important in life: The ability to smile and laugh, and not to take ourselves so seriously. I am happy to be here and I am proud to be your pastor.

RightLights, which is an energy efficient lighting program under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission, has presented Mater Dolorosa with a certificate for installing energy efficient lighting. RightLights awarded us with this acknowledgement for cutting our utility bill by an estimated $10,437.70 per year, (saving enough energy to power 13.2 homes per year) and reducing the CO2 pollution by 49390 lbs. per year! Not only are we helping to save our environment, but we will greatly reduce our parish costs as well. Our thanks to Bill Ruggiero, our Parish Administrator, for implementing the new energy efficient lights.
