Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church
January 7, 2007 - Bulletin

Lord, every nation on earth will adore you.

Psalm 72

It may take a persistent journey for us to come upon the true appearance of God’s glory in our lives: Jesus Christ.

First Reading: Isaiah 60:1-6 Rise up in splendor, Jerusalem! The Lord shines upon you and the glory of the Lord appears over you.

Second Reading: Ephesians 3:2-3a, 5-6 The Gentiles are coheirs, copartners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

Gospel: Matthew 2:1-12 Magi from the east arrived, looking for the newborn king of the Jews.

We pray for all the sick in our parish, especially: Maureen Dan, Jack Devine, Florence Farrow, Jovita Guajardo, Lory Manzano, Bob Reid and Luz P. Valdez.

May God bless them and their families.

Thank You Mater Dolorosa Parish

Thank you for your donation of $2,013.00 towards the work of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. We are grateful for your parish’s strong support of the Campaign, as we assist the Church to help poor and low-income people help themselves out of poverty by funding community-based, self-help and economic development projects.

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development

The Proclamation of the Date of Easter on Epiphany:

Dear brothers and sisters, the glory of the Lord has shone upon us,
and shall ever be manifest among us, until the day of his return.
Through the rhythms of times and seasons let us celebrate the mysteries of salvation.

Let us recall the year’s culmination, the Easter Triduum of the Lord:
his last supper, his crucifixion, his burial, and his rising celebrated
between the evening of the 5th day of April
and the evening of the 8th day of April.

Each Easter—as on each Sunday—
the Holy Church makes present the great and saving deed
by which Christ has forever conquered sin and death.

From Easter are reckoned all the days we keep holy.
Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, will occur on the 21st day of February.
The Ascension of the Lord will be commemorated on the 20th day of May.
Pentecost, the joyful conclusion of the season of Easter,
will be celebrated on the 27th day of May
and this year the First Sunday of Advent will be on the 2nd day of December.

Likewise, the pilgrim Church proclaims the Passover of Christ
in the feasts of the Apostles and Saints,
and in the commemoration of the faithful departed.

To Jesus Christ, who was, who is, and who is to come,
Lord of time and history, be endless praise, for ever and ever.
