My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?

Psalm 22

We look again to the Passion narratives to learn to follow Jesus.

First Reading: Isaiah 50:4-7 In spite of my sufferings, I am not disgraced. I am not put to shame.

Second Reading: Philippians 2:6-11 Christ emptied himself, and God filled this emptiness with exaltation.

Gospel: Luke 22:14—-23:56 The account of Christ’s passion according to Luke.

We pray for all the sick in our parish, especially: Father Ed Bohnert, Sister Teresita Capurihan, Maureen Dan, Jack Devine, Florence Farrow, Jovita Guajardo, Joe Hanna, Lory Manzano, Luz P. Valdez, and Carol Ver. May God bless them.

Come let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, that we may walk the paths of the Most High. And we shall beat our swords into ploughshares, and our spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation—neither shall they learn war any more. And none shall be afraid, for the mouth of the Lord of Hosts has spoken.

I am encouraged by the increased number of Eucharistic Ministers visiting the sick in homes and hospitals, so that anyone asking for Communion will receive the gift of God Himself. I am also mindful that people who are ministers also get sick, have other commitments, or are on vacation, etc. It is my task to centralize this information through the parish office and to replace myself with you, the generous and thoughtful parishioners of Mater Dolorosa. Anyone who may be inclined to accept the rewarding ministry of bringing the Eucharist to the sick, either at Kaiser Hospital in South San Francisco, or to the homebound, please call me at the rectory office, at 650-583-4131 ext. 31.

Thanks, Mike Quinn, Seminarian
