COLLECTION TOTALS - July 29, 2007

First Collection Total - $ 3,315.00
Second Collection Total - $ 1,348.00 (St. Vincent de Paul)

Thank you for your continued support!

Our Second Collection this Sunday is for our C.C.D. program. Our Second Collection next Sunday is for our Parish Improvement Fund.

Thank you!

We pray for all the sick in our parish, especially: Dolton Delahoussaye, Jack Devine, and Lory Manzano. May God bless them and keep them in His care.
Jesus urges us to be rich in what matters to God. The psalmist warns us against hardening our hearts. Are our hearts open to what really matters?

“Stewardship by the Book” by Sharon Huekel

Notice: If anyone mistakenly picked up a pair of prescription glasses (SILHOUETTE) in a black Kenneth Cole pouch, will you kindly bring them to the Mater Dolorosa Rectory, or give us a call at 583-4131? The glasses were placed on the table in the vestibule on July 28th. Thanks so much!
GREETERS NEEDED!

Anyone interested in being a Greeter at any of the Sunday Masses, please get in touch with Father Brian at 650-583-4131. Thanks

THE HAIR CUT

A young boy had just gotten his driver’s license and inquired of his father if they could discuss his use of the car. His father said “I’ll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, get your hair cut, and we’ll talk about the car.”

Well, the boy thought about that for a moment, and decided that he’d settle for the offer, and they agreed on it. After about six weeks they went into the study, where his father said, “Son, I’ve been real proud. You brought your grades up, and I’ve observed that you have been studying your Bible, and participating a lot more in the Bible study groups. But, I’m real disappointed since you haven’t gotten you hair cut. The young man paused a moment then said, “You know Dad, I’ve been thinking about that, and I’ve noticed in my studies of the Bible, that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair and there is even a strong argument that Jesus had long hair.”

To this his father replied, “Did you also notice that they all walked everywhere they went?”

We say a fond farewell to Sonny & Cha Cha Dagdagas who were our married musical team for the 5:00 Saturday Mass at Mater Dolorosa for the past 13 years. Due to a change in their schedule, they can no longer make the drive from Hayward to grace us with their beautiful voices and music. We owe them a big thank-you in grateful appreciation of their music ministry which they shared with us for so many years. . . . . thank-you Sonny and Cha Cha. . . . you will be missed.
