COLLECTION TOTALS - August 19, 2007

First Collection Total - $ 3,757.00
Second Collection Total - $ 1,239.00 (Parish Improvement)

Assumption of Mary - $ 976.97

Thank you for your continued support!

Our Second Collection this Sunday is for our Parish Improvement Fund.

Thank you!

We pray for all the sick in our parish, especially: Dolton Delahoussaye, Jack Devine, and Lory Manzano.
May God bless them and keep them in His care.

Today’s reading from Isaiah described the Israelites bringing their offering to the Lord “in clean vessels.” The gift of myself—my patient endurance and fidelity to the will of God—is as important as the monetary gift I offer.

“Stewardship by the Book” by Sharon Huekel

Dear Friends,

This coming Monday, August 27th, will be a sad day for me and the entire Mater Dolorosa Community. For the first time in 47 years, there will be no opening day of school. I wish both students and parents well who will be going to different schools this year. Please know that you will always have a home here at Mater Dolorosa. All of us, including your pastor, need to move on from the turmoil and bitterness of last year. I truly believe that when one door closes, another opens. I look forward to what the good Lord has in store for us during this coming year.

Thank you, one and all, for participating in the bone marrow drive last weekend to save the life of Marco. The turnout of people who registered and were tested was impressive. I can’t help but think of the line from the Prayer of St. Francis: “For it is in giving that we receive.” Thank you for reaffirming my faith that Mater Dolorosa is one of the most generous parishes in the Archdiocese.

Have a great week!

Father Brian
