Dear Friends,

It’s hard to believe that summer is over. The kids are back in school and the freeways are crowded once again. Where did those warm, lazy days of summer go?

The Parish is now back in full swing as well. Our daily weekday Mass is now at 8:00 a.m. and the Sunday evening Mass resumes at 5:00 p.m. RCIA began last Wednesday evening and our CCD Program begins on September 18th. If you are interested in enrolling your child in CCD, please contact Deacon Alex.

I’m still moving ahead with getting the Parish Hall floor done, but unfortunately because of the asbestos problem, it will not be completed as quickly as I thought. The new time table is that it should be finished by mid-November, just in time for the Christmas holidays. I’ll keep you posted.

During the summer, I had the Rectory painted inside and out, and had new carpeting put in. The old carpeting was over 30 years old! It is now a much nicer living and working space.

This past Wednesday was the 10th anniversary of the death of Mother Teresa. May Blessed Teresa of Calcutta continue to shower her blessings on Mater Dolorosa Parish.

Have a great week!

Father Brian

A Big Thank-You to Frances Wood

On September 15th, Frances Wood, our rectory cook, will celebrate 26 years of cooking for Mater Dolorosa’s priests. Frances’ cooking skills have been enjoyed by many priests, deacons and visitors over the years. Included in her ministry, Frances oversees the Confirmation lunches that Mater Dolorosa hosts. Frances shops, prepares and serves dinner three times a week with elegance and excellence. We thank her for blessing the kitchen with her culinary skills and her sweet personality as well! Thank you Frances, for your 26 years of service to Mater Dolorosa Church.
