Dear
Friends,
Those
of us who attend Church here at
Mater Dolorosa parish have been
blessed with many gifts. God
calls us to use those gifts for
the benefit of others. When
everyone participates, the burden
is lighter, and the Church grows
and flourishes.
The
Archbishops Annual Appeal
benefits youth, elderly, sick,
disabled, families, and ethnic
groups. These programs assist
all the parishes and the Annual
Appeal even provides direct
subsidies to some parishes and
schools. The programs include
vocation, training of priests and
deacons, hospital ministry,
family life programs, the
Marriage Tribunal headed by our
own Father Padazinski, foreign
missions, communications
(Catholic San Francisco), and the
Archdiocesan Council of Catholic
Women. The money also helps in
evangelizing those who have not
heard the Good News of Jesus. In
general, this Appeal supports
programs and ministries that are
beyond the ability of any single
parish.
I
ask that each of you consider
what you can do to help with this
important work. Perhaps
youll consider donating an
hours pay for each month of
the year. You can consider what
youve done in prior years
and try to do a bit more this
year. Maybe you can use the
giving guide in the AAA brochure
that can be found on the back
table in the vestibule of the
Church, to help determine your
gift.
It
is also important to remember
that Mater Dolorosa is assessed
$42,600.00 this year. If
parishioner pledges dont
come to that amount, it will have
to come from the parish bank
account. The good news is that
if we pledge more than that
amount, the excess is returned to
us for use here in the parish.
We have a golden opportunity to
help the Archdiocese in its
work and to provide for special
needs here in our parish as well.
Some of those special needs are
repairing our stained glass
windows, redoing the kitchen in
the parish hall, and a new sign
for the front of the
Church.
Ive
already filled out my own pledge
card and urge you to do the same.
Your support of this campaign is
strong evidence of your faith,
your love of the Church, and your
love for your neighbor. The
generosity of the people at Mater
Dolorosa is heartwarming to say
the least. Thank you for all
that you do.

Have
a great
week!
