EUCHARISTIC
ADORATION
AT MATER DOLOROSA
March 7, April 4, May 2,
& June
6
Please
sign up for Eucharistic
Adoration the first
Friday of each month.
It is a wonderful
experience to spend some
peaceful time in the
Holy Presence of Jesus.
We are sad to say that
we have not had enough
interest in this blessed
opportunity, and we need
people to make a
commitment for a small
amount of time per month
(30 minutes, an hour, or
more). Please consider
spending some time in
prayerful reflection
with Our Lord. You
will find the sign up
sheets in the vestibule
of the Church.
Lets make this a
big success for Mater
Dolorosa, as well as our
own spiritual
lives.

Dear
Friends,
I
would like to tell you why I
personally support the
Archbishops Annual
Appeal.
My
support of Appeal-funded programs
and ministries is more than
simply an act of kindness or
generosity on my part. It is
important to the future of our
Church, to the health and
well-being of many of our people,
to the ministry of my brother
priests, and to the effective
administration of Mater Dolorosa
Parish.
This
year, our Archdiocese will spend
nearly $6.5 million to subsidize
parishes and to make available
ministries and programs that
provide chaplains in hospitals,
scholarships for the less
advantaged children, assistance
for our elderly, retirement
benefits for my brother priests,
help for the homeless and the
hungry, and outreach to youth,
young adults, and disenchanted
Catholics. When I support these
efforts, I am sharing the
blessings that God has given
me.
When
I give to the Archbishops
Appeal, I am also helping Mater
Dolorosa Parish. We need
additional funds for our kitchen,
sound system, and new church
sign. Every dollar we contribute
to this Appeal over and above our
assessment of $42,600 will come
back to Mater Dolorosa to help
meet our needs.
We
have the benefit of this
beautiful church and school that
was built through the sacrifice
of other people, many of whom
still come to church
here.
The
church would be of little use if
the Archdiocese was not able to
assign dedicated pastors like
Fathers Norm Allen, Bob Hayburn,
Bill Knapp, Maurice Shea, John
Ring, and Hugh
ODonnell
to celebrate liturgies, the
Eucharist, homilies, the
sacraments, pastoral counseling,
and all the other things that
nurture our spiritual lives from
the time we are born until the
time we die. I would not be here
as your pastor if the Archdiocese
did not maintain a
Vocations
Office
and a seminary in which to train
me. We also need bishops to
ordain priests and to help us
with our on-going formation and
training.
I
ask you to take a moment to fill
out your pledge card, if you
havent already done
so.
Please
give this Appeal your support.
It is very important to many
people and it helps us to carry
out our stewardship by following
the example of Jesus. It can
also be an effective way to build
community here at Mater Dolorosa
and to fund much needed parish
projects, if we exceed our
assessment of
$42,600.
Ive
already made my pledge. I hope
and pray you do the
same.
