Prayer of St. Francis
Feast Day: October 4

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred. . . . . . . let me sow love.
Where there is injury. . . . . . . pardon.
Where there is discord. . . . . . unity
Where there is doubt . . . . . . . faith.
Where there is error. . . . . . . . truth.
Where there is despair . . . . . . hope.
Where there is sadness . . . . . . joy.
Where there is darkness. . . . . light.

O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled. . . . . . . as to console.
To be understood. . . . as to understand.
To be loved. . . . . . . . . as to love.

For it is in giving. . . . . that we receive.
It is in pardoning . . . .that we are pardoned.
It is in dying. . . . that we are born to eternal life.

Respect Life Month

 Dear Friends,

This coming Friday, I leave on pilgrimage to the lands of the Bible: Egypt, Jordan, and Israel. I will be going with Msgr. Labib Kobti, pastor of St. Thomas More, along with 35 pilgrims from the San Francisco area, including 3 people from Mater Dolorosa. The list of places we will visit and celebrate Mass reads like a blue print of the Bible: The Red Sea, Mount Sinai, Mount Nebo, The Jordan River, Galilee, Nazareth, Bethlehem, and Jerusalem. I will remember all of you in my Masses and prayers at all these holy sites. If you would like me to bring your own personal prayers with me, please write them out, and I will leave them at the different holy sites. Please get these prayers to me no later than Wednesday. I will be back in the parish by Sunday, October 26th . Please keep me in your prayers as well, that we have a safe trip. I am very excited about visiting these lands made holy by God’s presence and know that you will be with me every step of the way.

Have a great week!

Father Brian
